Saigon-based hardcore outfit Under Pressure closed out the year with intent, releasing their debut EP “Omnipotent” on New Year’s Eve. Dropped without theatrics, the five-track release arrives as a compact statement of force, direct, unpolished, and rooted in the discipline of the local hardcore underground.
Omnipotent unfolds like a controlled escalation. From the ominous pull of “Total Domination (Intro)”, the EP locks into “Seraph”, featuring Qui Nguyen, where serrated riffs and blunt vocal delivery collide with a sense of militant momentum. “Dethroned” follows as the record’s spine—tight, punishing, and unrelenting—before “Execution (Interlude)” briefly resets the tension. The title track “Omnipotent”, featuring Hoang Quan, seals the release with a crushing finale that reinforces the EP’s core themes of power, resistance, and confrontation.
The band’s lineup, Nhat Ares on vocals, Bac Trinh on rhythm guitar, Jackk Nguyen on lead guitar, Hieu Minh on bass, and Dat Le on drums, operates with clear intent and cohesion. All tracks were composed by the band, with recording, mixing, and mastering handled in-house by Jackk Nguyen, giving “Omnipotent” a raw, immediate sound that favors impact over polish.
Visually, the EP is framed by original artwork from Spectergaze, with cover design and illustration by Phuong Mai, complementing the record’s oppressive atmosphere and stark presentation. With “Omnipotent,” Under Pressure, don’t overexplain or overreach. They arrive, they strike, and they leave a mark, setting a hard foundation for what’s clearly a band built for pressure, not comfort.
