Bedlam Royals don’t have a long back catalog to introduce them. They have one song, a record on the way, and a story that predates the band itself. “Ode To Not A King” is out now, paired with a music video, and it’s worth your attention.
The “Ode To Not A King” music video is out, along with a free Bandcamp download. The track is a rework of “Pulsira Minuli Dan,” written during Viktor’s time with LEER, a Serbian act that released one album, “akt.I,” before going quiet. The bones of that song survived the move. What Bedlam Royals have built around them is something different: a new arrangement, new English lyrics, but the same emotional weight of the original.
The production behind the single is worth noting. Recorded at KET’s Studio in Ho Chi Minh City in December 2025, the record was engineered by Aki và Mike Cohen (the band’s guitarist). Kiệt Trần handled production and mixing, and Magnus Lindberg of VRTIKL Audio mastered the track. If that name is familiar, it should be: Lindberg is a member of Cult of Luna, one of the most respected names in post-metal globally.
The music video was directed and edited by Khanh Trần, filmed in March 2026 at TRG International’s studio in Ho Chi Minh City, with Bom in the lead role of “The King.”
“Ode To Not A King” is the only single from “The Gap,” Bedlam Royals‘ debut album, which arrives in May exclusively on Bandcamp and in physical formats. Six tracks, around 35 minutes of music, and each song comes with its own dedicated artwork by Imperial Cult, the Hanoi-based visual artist who has been one of the driving creative forces behind House of Ygra and the visual identity of several prominent Hanoi acts. Six songs, six pieces. The record is built as a complete body of work instead of a collection of singles.
The track is available on all streaming platforms and as a free download on Bandcamp. Start there, then wait for May. It’s worth it.
