Scene Incubator #8: NoSchool Production, ToanRaw, Anesthetic Youth
Scene Incubator #8 brings together distinct musical worlds and lets them collide. The artists may not share a genre, follow the same formula, or travel the same path, but each has found their own way of turning inner experiences into something that can be heard, felt, and shared. Rather than offering a single answer to what music should be, round eight creates space for different voices to speak freely on their own terms.

Anesthetic Youth is an alternative rock band from Ho Chi Minh City, blending alternative rock, garage rock, and post-punk into a sound that feels urgent and raw, yet dark and atmospheric. After four years of silence, the band returns with founding member Jesus and new vocalist My An, alongside Angelo Silva and Luis Zapiola. Their single “Adapting” marks the beginning of a new chapter, carrying the restless energy of their earlier work into something sharper, more restrained, and more deliberate. Shaped by a DIY ethos and years spent organizing and playing shows across Vietnam, Anesthetic Youth are not returning to revisit the past — they are here to keep moving forward.
Noschool Production was founded by Patu and Ben of From Da Slum Collective as a way to express their own emotions and lived experiences through music. Joined by fellow session musicians from FDS, they approach each song as a space listeners can step into — one that gives shape to what Patu and Ben are thinking, feeling, and going through. No formula, framework, or fixed genre defines the project’s sound. Emotion is the only compass.
ToanRaw is a post-punk project from Ho Chi Minh City, built around the songwriting of Nguyễn Minh Toàn and brought to the stage with fellow musicians from From Da Slum Collective. Drawing from post-punk, darkwave, and the melancholic edge of Vietnamese rock, ToanRaw’s music is driven by restless basslines, energetic guitars, and slow-burning arrangements that allow atmosphere to carry the emotional weight. Though still a relatively new name with no official recordings released yet, the project has already begun making its presence felt through performances in Saigon, Hanoi, and across Vietnam’s independent live circuit in 2026.
