Scene Incubator #7: Chân Trời, XOI, Encased In Flesh

Scene Incubator hits round seven, and this one’s about the mix. New bands still finding their footing sharing a bill with names who’ve already put in the years, both getting the same stage, the same crowd, the same shot to win them over. That’s the whole idea: give the scene room to grow sideways, not just up.

Chân Trời is a young alternative rock band out of Ho Chi Minh City, formed in 2024 and rounding out their lineup in early 2025 with Mai Hoàng Anh on vocals, Tô Tiểu Long on guitar, Khang Lai on bass, and Tiến Đạt on drums. Drawing from alternative rock, indie rock, and J-rock, their songs move between raw and untamed and dreamlike and fragile, built around honest storytelling and emotionally driven soundscapes.

XOI is an experimental alternative rock project from Saigon, blending industrial textures with raw emotion. Founded in 2013, it’s evolved from a full band collective into a project led by multi-instrumentalist Nguyễn Tấn Cường, whose vision now steers the sound. Cathartic, introspective, sometimes chaotic, always honest, XOI’s music explores inner turmoil and personal rebirth through distorted textures and atmospheric instrumentation, moving between delicate ballads and abrasive breakdowns.

Encased in Flesh is a deathcore band formed by guitarist Cerrin Hendricks and drummer Đồng Thanh Sơn after their previous band Final Heaven went on indefinite hiatus. Writing together since late 2025 and playing shows since 2026, the lineup was rounded out with vocalist Koito, lead guitarist Phan Hoàng Phương, and bassist Xuân Khôi. They’ve already supported Finland’s FORESEEN and shared a stage with local legends CÚT LỘN, with their first single dropping this August. Pulling from deathcore, metalcore, and slam, they’re out to put their own stamp on Vietnamese metal.
