ChipPunks Step Into Darker Waters with “Biển Xanh” Music Video

ChipPunks unveil Biển Xanh, a haunting new music video that marks a sharp departure from their pop-punk roots. Shot on Cần Giờ Beach, the cinematic track explores broken love, memory, and reinvention, signaling a new chapter in the band’s journey.

Saigon pop-punk outfit ChipPunks marks a bold reinvention with the release of their haunting new music video, “Biển Xanh.” The track is drawn from their latest EP “Growing Up and signals a dramatic shift in both sound and image. Known for their youthful energy and tongue-in-cheek anthems, ChipPunks have taken a surprising detour with Biển Xanh. Trading crunchy riffs and upbeat hooks for melancholic textures, the track tells a tale of broken love and memories washed away by the tide.

Shot on Cần Giờ Beach during a coastal renovation project, the MV uses its stark environment as a character of its own. Vast pipes scattered across the sand created a surreal, industrial wasteland. What might have been a logistical setback instead amplified the song’s isolation and sorrow, turning the unexpected scenery into a cinematic triumph.

Director Ba Tú leaned into this raw backdrop, saying that what first appeared as visual clutter soon became the defining feature of the film. The result is a music video that feels uniquely tied to its location—an atmosphere that could not be replicated elsewhere.

Collaborative Craft and New Identity

Written by bassist A Nhành, “Biển Xanh” features guest vocals from Đôn Tâm Hào and Si Minh Tài, layering softness and introspection with a playful edge. For ChipPunks, the project is their most carefully realized to date, blending narrative filmmaking with musical experimentation.

The release also introduces a new chapter in the band’s visual identity. Teaming with local fashion brand End Of The Beginning, ChipPunks have adopted an emo-inspired, mature aesthetic, far removed from their pop-punk roots yet still carrying the band’s restless energy.

Biển Xanh” is available now on the band’s official YouTube channel.
