Vietnamese-New Zealand metalcore force GAI 荄 has officially released their long-anticipated debut full-length album, “YOU LI,” marking a pivotal moment in the band’s relentless climb. The record is the product of nearly a year’s worth of studio grind and a Kickstarter campaign that rallied fans from across the globe.
“YOU LIE” features ten tracks that stretch across metalcore, nu-metal, and deathcore territories, layered with emotion, precision, and ferocity. The band worked with a range of artists to shape this sound, including none other than Emmure’s Frankie Palmeri, who lent his voice to the blistering track “False Boy.”
Other contributors include artists and producers from the U.S., Australia, Japan, and Vietnam, creating a truly international footprint. These collaborations don’t feel like mere features—they’re integrated elements of a cohesive sonic vision.
GAI made waves throughout 2024 with a string of singles, each release sharpening their identity and building momentum. “Same Old Story,” “Gutter Rat,” and “Vive La Déception” showcased a band that could be raw and technical, crushing and catchy—often all in one track. Online metal reviewers quickly took notice, with outlets and YouTubers praising the band’s direction, energy, and cross-continental ambition.
With “YOU LIE” now available on all major streaming platforms, GAI 荄 stands at the edge of something bigger. Backed by a loyal fanbase, powered by fearless creativity, and anchored by a sharp ear for production, they’ve proven they can push the genre forward. What remains now is to wait to see them live across the world. If you’re in Ha Noi on June 8th, be sure to visit their album release show.
