Ho Chi Minh City’s underground scene welcomes a fierce new name—Grudgebound, a band reborn from the ashes of former outfit Katto Katto.
Grudgebound may be a new name, but their journey started back in September 2022, when a group of close friends with zero prior experience picked up their instruments and plunged headfirst into the world of hardcore. Originally formed as Katto Katto, the band grew through raw dedication, relentless jamming, and a shared desire to express their anger, passion, and pain through sound.
After internal struggles, lineup changes, and a few breakups, 2024 marked a turning point. The band regrouped with a renewed focus—not for clout, but for pure love of hardcore and the bond they’ve built through music. With a fresh name and sharper direction, Grudgebound now steps into the spotlight with their first official release.
“Flower” is a throwback to their roots. Written during their Katto Katto days, the track channels the chaotic energy of early inspirations like Knocked Loose, Chelsea Grin, Varials, Dealer, và Omerta, fusing metallic heaviness with emotional grit.
The track was recorded at Ket Studio and mixed and mastered by Hajumetal, a name familiar to many in Vietnam’s heavy scene. With its explosive breakdowns, haunting synth textures, and unfiltered vocal aggression, “Flower” sets the tone for what Grudgebound calls their evolving sound: Hatecore.
With more music in the works and a mission that runs deeper than trends, Grudgebound is here to build, destroy, and rebuild again—this time louder, harder, and more united than ever.
Until then, stay hard. Hardcore pride forever.
