Formed in early 2019 in Hanoi, Vietnam, Elcrost emerged as a three-piece black metal band with a vision to blend the raw essence of 1990s black metal with atmospheric and progressive elements. The founding members—Rogdan (lead vocals, lead guitar), Đạo Hoàng (guitar, bass, programming, backing vocals), and Mộng Nguyệt (keyboards, backing vocals, additional guitars and bass)—collaborated to craft a sound that is both haunting and emotionally resonant.
Elcrost’s music is characterized by its melancholic melodies, intricate compositions, and themes exploring European folklore, unrequited love, loss, and death. Their debut album, “Benighted & Unrequited” (2020), showcases this blend, offering a collection of songs that delve into the depths of human emotion and mythological narratives.

Following their debut, Elcrost released the EP “Foregone Fables” (2020), which marked an experimental phase, incorporating diverse musical directions while maintaining their core atmospheric black metal identity. In 2021, they collaborated with Australian band Vixenta for a split release, further expanding their sonic horizons.
Elcrost has been an active participant in Southeast Asia’s metal scene, performing in countries like Thailand, Cambodia, và Vietnam. Notably, they have shared stages with acts such as As-Sahar, Religion Malediction, và Pure Wrath. Their live albums, “Hellfire & Black Mass” (Live in Hanoi, 27.11.22) and “Live in Bangkok”, 15.07.23, capture the intensity and atmospheric depth of their performances.
Elcrost continues to evolve, pushing the boundaries of atmospheric black metal while staying true to their roots. With a commitment to exploring themes of decadence, mythology, and human emotion, they remain a significant force in Vietnam’s underground metal scene.
