Once known for their wild stage antics and yellow Pikachu suits, shapeshifters Cút Lộn have shed their cartoonish skin and fully transformed with their latest release, “Dzữa.” The seven-track EP, written between January and July this year, marks the band’s most uncompromising and mature statement to date.
While it still carries echoes of “Bắc Thảo,” Dzữa pushes the band further into shadow. The vocals are harsher, guitars more jagged and confrontational, and the lyrics dig deep into raw, uncomfortable emotion. It’s a sound that feels like standing in the middle of a storm, chaotic, cathartic, and strangely beautiful beneath the wreckage.
Recorded by Bomb, mixed, mastered, and visually designed by Sọt, Dzữa is available now on Bandcamp and YouTube, with streaming platforms to follow soon. Physical releases, including cassettes of Dzữa and refreshed editions of “Bắc Thảo” and “Xào Ke,” are expected in the second half of October.
Cút Lộn will also embark on a short tour to bring this new form to life on stage, with dates to be announced soon.
