Formed in 2021 in Ho Chi Minh City, ChipPunks embodies the playful defiance and unfiltered energy of pop punk, bringing the genre’s signature spirit to Vietnam’s modern underground scene. The trio—Tài Sảng (guitar/vocals), A Nhành (bass/vocals), and A Phấy (drums)—built their sound around fast tempos, catchy melodies, and lyrics that balance humor, rebellion, and emotional honesty.
Emerging from Saigon’s bustling indie community, ChipPunks made it their mission to reinvigorate the raw fun of punk rock while making it accessible and relatable to Vietnamese audiences. Their name reflects their tongue-in-cheek attitude and commitment to keeping things lighthearted without diluting the genre’s defiant edge.

ChipPunks’ music is bright, loud, and unapologetically youthful, staying true to pop punk’s global roots while injecting a distinctly Vietnamese sensibility. Their songs tackle familiar themes of growing pains, personal freedom, and life’s absurdities, all delivered with infectious hooks and upbeat rhythms. The band also embraces humor in their lyrics and on-stage banter, making their shows feel like a community party as much as a performance.
ChipPunks debuted with the EP “ChippleH,” establishing themselves as one of the bands actively flying the pop punk flag in Vietnam. With its spirited tracks and lo-fi charm, “ChippleH” resonated with a new generation of listeners discovering punk’s rebellious yet fun-loving philosophy.
In July 2025, they returned with a follow-up EP, “Growing Up,” marking a step forward both sonically and thematically. The new songs retain the band’s trademark energy while showcasing a more refined production and a lyrical focus on navigating adulthood without losing the spark of youth.
Known for their highly interactive live shows, ChipPunks have become a fixture in Saigon’s live music circuit. They’ve performed at some of the city’s standout alternative events, including HỘI – THUẦN – HỘI 2024, Pop Punk Cực Mạnh (hosted by Tụp Tắc Records), and Hội Báo Toàn Quốc, where their catchy anthems and fun-loving stage presence won over crowds and solidified their reputation as crowd favorites.
