Formed in early 2022 in Saigon, 9xacly emerged from the creative synergy of friends all born in 1999. What began as a shared urge to make noisy, heavy music quickly turned into one of Vietnam’s most vital underground acts. The name 9xacly is more than a stylistic choice; it’s a cultural remix. This is a linguistic blend of the Vietnamese phrase “chính xác” (meaning “exact”) and the English word “exactly,” reflecting their precise yet eclectic musical approach.

From the beginning, 9xacly never set out to follow a strict genre formula — they just wanted to play what felt urgent, loud, and honest. What emerged was a raw form of hardcore punk infused with chaotic energy, thrash elements, the groove of early rap-metal, and an experimental streak that refuses to be boxed in.

Their music doesn’t chase polish; it thrives on edge. It’s fast, unfiltered, and built for bodies to crash in the pit. The guitars snarl, the rhythm section punches, and the vocals rage with a controlled wildness that speaks to both personal fury and collective release.

9xacly’s debut EP, “Chính Xác Ly,” dropped not long after they formed, establishing them as a serious presence in Vietnam’s underground scene. That EP captured their sound in its purest state — volatile, spontaneous, and unapologetically punk.

The band isn’t just DIY in attitude — they live and breathe it. Every aspect of their work, from merch and visuals to music videos and show posters, is handled in-house. Hardy and Vuiqa in particular are active visual artists and designers, contributing significantly to Vietnam’s underground music aesthetic and helping other punk and hardcore bands shape their visual identities.

Since their debut, 9xacly has built a reputation for ferocious live performances, leaving their mark on every stage they’ve hit. Whether it’s a packed room or a chaotic DIY space, the band brings their all. Shows are less performances and more cathartic explosions — pits open up, sweat flies, and no one walks away untouched.

Their visual work and music have also caught attention beyond their own shows, with artwork and designs regularly appearing on other bands’ flyers and projects — a testament to how deeply embedded they are in the broader punk ecosystem.

9xacly is currently gearing up for their next release, due out in May 2025. While details are under wraps, the band promises a sonic step forward that doesn’t forget where it came from — still heavy, still chaotic, still true to their roots.

As they evolve, 9xacly continues to represent what hardcore punk should be: fierce, community-driven, and fearlessly real.
