RÊVASSEUR ANNOUNCE SOPHOMORE ALBUM “REAPER’S GALE,” ARRIVING 12.12.2025

Hanoi death-metal stalwarts Rêvasseur return on 12.12.2025 with Reaper’s Gale! An eleven-track plunge into war, honour, and myth-fused melodic brutality. Inspired by Steven Erikson’s dark-fantasy visions and brought to life with hand-drawn artwork by Greallach, the album marks the band’s most focused, battle-scarred, and definitive statement yet.

Hanoi’s melodic death metal force Rêvasseur have officially announced “Reaper’s Gale,” their second LP. An eleven-track descent into battle, brotherhood, and the blood-soaked myths that have defined their sound since day one. The album drops on the 12th of December 2025, marking a decisive new chapter for Hanoians.

Sharpened through years of relentless live shows, Rêvasseur have built a reputation for pairing melodic death metal’s fire and finesse with the grit of Vietnam’s contemporary heavy scene. Their debut stood as a statement of intent; ‘Reaper’s Gale’ arrives as the full realization of that vision, leaner, heavier, and more confident in its identity.

Drawing inspiration from the towering dark-fantasy worlds of Steven Erikson, specifically the “Malazan Book of the Fallen” entry Reaper’s Gale, the band doesn’t attempt a direct retelling. Instead, Erikson’s influence bleeds through like smoke in the rafters: colossal atmospheres, doomed legions, naval dread, and an undercurrent of honour carved in steel. Rêvasseur channels these ideas into something fiercely their own: a record where every riff is sharpened by conflict, every lyric tastes of brine and blood.

The nautical motif is further echoed in the album’s striking artwork by Greallach, a deliberate rejection of the current AI-art wave. Rêvasseur wanted something human, hand-drawn, tactile, and alive. The result is a visual companion that mirrors the album’s oceanic heave: mythic, suffocating, and vast.

Sonically, “Reaper’s Gale” pushes the band deeper into a classic melodic death-metal approach without losing the raw power of their live sound. Expect an exclusive Ethos Collective album review in a few days.
