Diarsia emerged in Vietnam’s underground scene as the country’s very first Hybrid Deathcore band, officially formed between late 2019 and early 2020. Drawing inspiration from the ever-evolving nature of their namesake — a species of nocturnal moth known for its adaptability — Diarsia is an embodiment of constant musical transformation. Founded by frontman Khang Nguyễn, the band initially included Thảo Nguyễn (bass), Nguyễn Quốc Việt (guitar), and Nguyễn Shien (guitar). The band made their live debut at “Đi Đạp Zịt” on June 4, 2020.
Their early compositions stood out with a bold mix of deathcore intensity blended with experimental melodies and the incorporation of Vietnamese traditional instruments — a rare and powerful combination that quickly set Diarsia apart in Southeast Asia’s heavy music landscape.

In October 2020, the lineup began to shift, ushering in a new era with the additions of Ty Phạm (bass), Xuân Khôi (guitar), and Ling Nguyễn (guitar). This marked the beginning of Diarsia’s most active period, with performances at a range of prominent underground shows, including Lạc Lối: Year End Party, Young Blood 2, Mortal Kombat 1, Growl of Clown: Live in Saigon, and LOẠN w/ Ugoslabier.
By 2023, another major transformation occurred. Drummer Tú Lỳ departed, and Cường Huy Bùi stepped in to take over on drums. Later, in mid-2023, Ty Phạm exited the group, and Tuấn Kiệt took over the drummer position, with Cường Huy Bùi moving into the bassist role.
Diarsia’s discography, while still growing, already showcases a distinctive identity. Since 2020, they’ve released five major tracks that blur genre boundaries, each combining deathcore aggression with ethnic Vietnamese sonic textures.
Their collaborative nature has brought together artists across the regional heavy scene, further enhancing their appeal and solidifying their status as key connectors in Vietnam’s growing metal community.
From humble beginnings in local bars and underground gigs, Diarsia has risen to support internationally acclaimed acts and headline landmark Vietnamese metal events.
2024 marks a pivotal year for Diarsia. The release of their debut full-length album “Armageddon”, the first Deathcore studio album ever released in Vietnam — a historic milestone for the country’s heavy music scene. With their reputation steadily growing, Diarsia aims to take their hybrid sound beyond borders, tapping into the broader Southeast Asian scene and beyond.
As they continue to evolve and challenge genre norms, Diarsia is not just building a name — they’re building a legacy, one crushing breakdown at a time.
